$25 per Person Includes 12” fiber pot, foam block, greenery and step by step design assistance by our special guest Debbie Rothe, a design enthusiast, here to help design the perfect porch pot.

For $2, purchase a rubber duck that you can keep and race it in Nick’s Water Race Way.

Your Rubber Duck Floats down the race way powered by you, using an old fashioned pump.

You must continuously pump water so your duck floats down the race way fastest.

Salsa Contest Rules:
Contest is for the most flavorful Salsa using fresh complementing ingredients.

This is not a contest for the hottest salsa but for the freshest and most flavorful.

You must bring prepared salsa for judges to sample.
All entries must be at Nick’s by 1pm.
We will have you fill out a short entry form when you arrive. You must have a copy of your recipe printed to Share with Nick’s as we will share winning recipes with public.
NO contestants affiliated with Nick’s Garden Center or related to the owners.

Entry participant must be present to enter and claim prize.
This is a contest for the best tasting Salsa prepared at your home
and brought to Nick’s for judging by 1pm on 9/7/19.
Judging will be by Aurora Fire Department representatives.

As soon as judging is done anyone can sample the entries!

Green Chile Contest Rules:
You must bring the green chile prepared for judges to sample. Make at least 1 quart.
The green chile must be in a crockpot or proper container to hold proper temperature.
All entries must be at Nick’s by 11:30am. No later!
You can take your container or crockpot home at 2:30 pm. Your chile will be sampled by public before that.

We will have you fill out a short entry form when you arrive. You must have a copy of your recipe printed to Share with Nick’s as we will share winning recipes with public.
NO contestants affiliated with Nick’s Garden Center or related to the owners.

Entry participant must be present to enter and claim prize.
Chile judges will be evaluating the Following:
TASTE: Taste, above all else is the most important factor. The taste should consist of the combination of the meat, peppers, spices, etc, with no particular ingredient being dominant, but rather a blend of the flavors.
CONSISTENCY: Chile must have a good ratio between sauce and meat. It should not be dry, watery, grainy, lumpy, or greasy.
AROMA: Chile should smell good. This also indicates what is in store when you taste it.
COLOR: Chile should look appetizing. Reddish brown is generally accepted as good.
BITE: Bite or after taste is the heat created by the various type of chile peppers and chile spices.

*Vegan, Organic and vegetarian recipes are welcome but will be judged collectively with traditional recipes.

a.k.a. “Chile Verde” and impress the judges with your tastiest recipe. No Chili Beans

This is a contest for the best tasting GREEN CHILE prepared at your home
and brought to Nick’s for judging by 11:30am on 9/7/19.

Have you ever wanted to grow an exquisite, blemish-free tomato?  How about a perfect pepper or giant pumpkin?  Then this presentation is for you!  You’ll gain tips and learn tricks for growing big, tasty and prize-worthy vegetables.  Discover how to choose the top varieties, schedule planting dates and grow a healthy garden whether you want to win ribbons or simply improve your vegetable gardening efforts.  Jodi Torpey is an award-winning vegetable grower, master gardener and author of Blue Ribbon Vegetable Gardening and The Colorado Gardener’s Companion.  She’s a Blueprint.com gardening instructor, and her garden writing appears in digital and print media.  Since 2010 she’s promoted Denver’s annual Plant a Row for the Hungry campaign as a volunteer for Garden Communicators International.
