To eradicate mealybugs Nick’s recommends using Eight Garden and Home Household read to use and Bonide Systemic Granules with Imidacloprid. Also wipe off white cottony material with rag for immediate control.

Aphids feed on plant sap excreting sticky honeydew that may be noticed on your floor. They are oval/pear in shape usually green but not always. Aphids can cause wilting and are best sprayed with a contact killing insecticide.
To eradicate Aphids Nick’s recommends using Bayer rose and flower insect killer. You can also prune off heavily infested areas or wipe off with rag and water.

Spider Mites very common and very small, mostly found on the underside of leaves feeding on plant sap. An infestation can make a leave’s surface covered in a fine webbing and browning in color can occur.
To eradicate spider mites Gently wipe away surface webbing or prune out any heavily infested leaves. Nick’s Garden Center recommends using Natural Guard Neem spray at first sign of infestation.
Common to: Ivies, dracaenas, figs, hibiscus, norfolk island pine and scheffleras.
Fungus Gnats, tiny fruit fly looking bugs that appear around soil of houseplants. These do not bite and are considered only a nuisance. Fungus gnats are attracted to moisture in houseplant soil and if soil is too moist the insects will thrive. To prevent, allow soil to dry between waterings especial the top 1”-2” and keep soil surface clear of any decaying plant matter that may provide food to gnats. These gnats are more prevalent in fall and winter as days are shorter and cooler plants do not use as much water so adjust watering frequency to allow top 1”-2” of soil to dry out.
To eradicate gnats use Ferti-lome Indoor/Outdoor spray every few days to kill and also use Sticky Insect Traps to trap insects 24 hours a day. Nick’s Garden Center Stocks both solutions call for availability.

Greenhouse Whitefly are tiny white flying insects that cause damage by sucking sap from plant. The honeydew excreted when whitefly feed cause for a plant with reduced vigor, leaf drop and yellowing in color.
To eradicate whitefly use sticky Whitefly Traps, Bayer Advanced Rose and Flower Insect Killer, or Systemic Insecticide Granules.
Common to: Poinsettia, ivy, hibiscus, and common garden plants.
Thrips, these super small insects cause light irregularly colored spots on areas of leaves. They also leave behind dark spots from their waste and create larger wounds silverfish in color. Thrips infest developing flower buds that will become discolored and deformed. Although Thrips will not kill a plant they may introduce a virus that can.
To eradicate thrips use sticky Whitefly Traps, and Bayer Advanced Rose and Flower Insect Killer.
