A Brief History of Nick’s Garden Center & Farm Market

Founded in 1987, Nick’s started their garden center at the site of an old gas station called Bob’s Place at 300 South Colorado Boulevard in Glendale Colorado. Nick Ortega and his three children transformed a once abandoned gas station into a thriving garden center after only a couple years in business. Along with offering quality plants and garden products in the years to come Nick’s became far more than just a garden center.

With the rush of spring over and summer setting in Nick’s began to  offer a Farm Market to customers everyday Starting July and continuing through October. With a commitment to offering the freshest produce  and seasonally available colorado delights, Nick’s quickly became a favorite amongst locals. Along with fresh produce like homegrown peaches, pickles, cherries, and corn Nick’s began offering Flame roasted peppers mid August through September. Still seasonally offered in our store, nothing awakens your senses like the scent of peppers roasting on an open flame.

With the summer ending and fall approaching Nick continued changing his store with the seasons  and the seeds for “Fall Fest” were planted. Once agin Nick’s transformed into a local hotspot with their fun fall offerings  allowing customers to buy pumpkins, decorations, corn stalk, and fall blooming plants in a family friendly environment. This “Fall Fest” continues today and has grown to include a tractor ride, bounce house, straw maze and much more. The fall season in Colorado is a customer favorite and allows families to enjoy our store during another great of the year.

Nick’s Garden Center and Farm Market would not be what it is today if it were not for Nick’s roots in the Christmas Tree Business. With decades in the wholesale christmas tree and wreath business Nick found a natural extension of offering quality christmas trees at his garden center and allowing families to find that perfect tree in a family fun atmosphere and this too continues to this day at Nick’s Garden Center and Farm Market.

Throughout the year we Strive to create a pleasant and friendly environment offering you a well-rounded customer experience. In 2012 we celebrated our 25th year in business and we thank you our wonderful customers for supporting us through the years. Nick’s looks forward to serving you for years to come with all your gardening needs and offering you a place to enjoy Colorado’s beautiful seasons.

Thank you,

Nicholas Ortega and Family
